About NEST

National Entrance Screening Test (NEST) is a compulsory test for students seeking admission to National Institute of Science Education and Research (NISER), Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM-DAE CEBS), Mumbai. he candidates admitted to the programme in NISER, or CEBS, are eligible to receive an annual scholarship of Rs 60,000 through the DISHA program of the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India. In addition, the scholarship recipients receive a grant of Rs 20,000 per annum for the summer internship.

NISER, Bhubaneshwar, is a unique institution in India to deliver knowledge in basic sciences. The Institute is affiliated with Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), Mumbai, a deemed research university.

About UM-DAE CEBS

The Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, has an autonomous Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences in Mumbai. The degrees at CEBS are awarded by the University of Mumbai.

5-year integrated programme offered through National Entrance Screening Test: –

M.Sc. in Biological,
M.Sc. in Chemical,
M.Sc. in Mathematical,
M.Sc. in Physical sciences.

Eligibility criteria for admission:

At least 60% marks in aggregate (or equivalent grade) in Class XII examination from any recognized Board in India. For Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates and for Divyangjan candidates, the minimum requirement is 55%.
Candidate should secure a position in the NEST 2023 merit list.

Nest Exam Admissible Score

The best three subject scores from four subjects have been considered for the merit list preparation for NEST exam (for both NISER and CEBS). A candidate had to choose any three subjects or all four subjects in the test from NEST 2023.

As per NEST 2023

Female applicant: ₹600.00
Applicant of SC/ST/Divyanga category: ₹600.00
Male/Others applicant of the General/OBC category: ₹1200.00
